Join us for a very special Alliance Française de Hartford Annual Meeting!

When: Sunday, May 21, 2017

Where: 75 Charter Oak Ave. Hartford, CT – 2nd floor

Time: 3h00 p.m.

This year’s annual meeting will be a very special one because on that day, the AFH Board of Directors will officially dedicate one of the classrooms to our friend Dick Perlot for his faithful service to our organization. We will be joined for the occasion by the Perlot family and some friends.

In addition, and to make this celebration all the more special, the Gypsy Jazz band Chat Noir will be in charge of the musical entertainment.

Chat Noir, a gypsy jazz band

Markus Centola, accordion and Michael Piraneo, clarinet

The band takes European cafe music to the next level. Their unique repertoire is inspired by music from France, Italy, Russia and other countries. In a special combination of accordion and clarinet arrangements, the group will present music from the repertoire of Edith Piaf and popular movie music excerpts.

La Brioche French Bakery will provide refreshments. Members $10, Non-members $15.

Ford Model T Ambulance: Storytelling and Outdoor Wine Bar

When: Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. (torrential rain date: June 25, 2017)

Where: 75 Charter Oak Ave. Hartford, CT – 2nd floor

Sponsored by the Alliance Française de Hartford and AFS with participation from the Model A Club of Connecticut.

Don’t miss this unusual event hosted by the Alliance Française de Hartford! On Sunday, June 11 at 3:00 P.M. (torrential rain date: June 25) come see a restored ambulance from World War I, used by AFS (American Field Service) in France. Mr. George King III from North Franklin, CT will share diary entries of ambulance drivers during World War I, in English, and tell his tale of how he completed the restoration of his Model T Ford Ambulance by using original parts. This attests to the fine volunteerism of A.F.S. during the war. There will be a Power Point presentation and a five minute movie showing his journey through Paris during the Bastille celebrations in 2014, the one-hundredth anniversary from World War I. Afterwards, we invite you to an outdoor wine bar, along with baguettes, French cheese, and grapes. At that time, there will be photo opportunities with the amazing ambulance in the parking lot of the Connecticut Association of Non-Profits at 75 Charter Oak and Wyllys Street in Hartford. Thanks to the Model A Club of Connecticut, a half dozen Model A’s from the years 1928 to 1931 will tour the parking lot with great pride. The drivers will be happy to answer questions about their antique vehicles and to pose for pictures.

For this event only, please park BEHIND building 2, up the street on Wyllys and turn right on Hartford Square West.

$10 admission for members of Alliance Française de Hartford

$15 for non-members
