Sebastian Smee, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and art critic at the Washington Post, presents a lecture on his most recent book Paris in Ruins: Love, War, and the Birth of Impressionism. Smee reconsiders the origin of Impressionism as a pivotal moment in the rise of modern art. The lecture coincides with the museum’s reinstallation of the Impressionist collection and celebrates the new ways of seeing Impressionism that are brought to light in our galleries and his book.
