The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving administers our scholarship, the Alliance Française de Hartford Harpin/Rohinsky Scholarship Fund, named in honor of Pauline Harpin, a French teacher at Weaver High School in Hartford and Marie-Claire Rohinsky, a former French professor at Central Connecticut State University.
Founded in 1925, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Scholarship Program has awarded nearly $28 million since 1945. Last year, 600 Great Hartford student were awarded scholarships.
Each year students may apply for a $3,000 renewable scholarship sponsored by the Alliance Française de Hartford. This year’s winner is still being selected, but the Alliance Française encourages you to complete the Hartford Foundation’s common application, making certain to choose French as an area of interest for your college studies. You can easily find out about the Foundation from the guidance office in your local high school or by visiting the website of the Hartford Foundation, http://www.hfpgscholarships.org/Scholarship in order to be considered for a future award.
