I always enjoy Marianne’s class. I’ve been taking them since 101. Her attention to detail (and patience lol) without diction and comprehension is appreciated at the advanced level. I’m not sure how she does it so well on Zoom, but she does. She also provides emails on current French events so we can participate and enhance our cultural learnings. I really appreciate this continued learning. Also, to coincide with teachings in the book and from online class, she follows up with additional information on the topics each week.

French history is complicated and long. This class covered many of the highlights and made some of the common threads more clear. The instructor adapted well to the level of the class. The individual projects brought personal interests to the whole class and was a great vehicle for us all to learn more.

Dahmane is an excellent teacher. Knowledgeable, imaginative, firm, but forgiving. Advanced course – useful to hear native speaker’s conversation. A lot of class participation considering zoom sessions.

Dr Gardner is an excellent teacher. I love the way she provides a great deal of practical information and examples of life in France. Her classes are always enjoyable, interesting and informative. This class has helped my French language skills a great deal. Our online classes have been very good.

The presenter spoke with enthusiasm and knowledge about the Bayeux tapestry. She also gave extra resources so the subject could be researched by those interested. The presentation was interesting and varied.

As someone who has spent a great deal of time in Haiti, I was very interested in this subject. I have also been involved in Slavery in the Americas, and this information augmented my understanding of the links of Christianity and Voudoun brought from Africa.

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the Buche de Noel class. The chef  did such an amazing job explaining the recipe in really great detail that I even attempted the recipe, which produced a beautiful dessert for our Christmas Eve dinner! We did have an explosion of cocoa powder when we slammed the pan upside down on the towel (should have gotten a picture of that – (with cocoa powder all over the kitchen and ourselves!) but it added to the fun and made a good story when my husband shouted  bûche!
